Has the church let you down?

All of us have placed our hopes in something or someone who has let us down...

...and there are some who would say that the church has let them down...

...Even ME, a Pastor and lifelong follower of Jesus... I can admit that the church has let me down.

If we are honest... we can all agree that it is possible for a church to hurt and cause disappointment in our lives. (After all, every church on the planet is full of imperfect people. Some are meaner than others, haha)...

Local churches will disappoint us at times... and I know what it feels like to not want to show back up at church anymore or give up on church altogether...

After all, is it really even worth this pain? Well... first, I would say that no one has been hurt by the church more than Jesus!

And if Jesus sent his Holy Spirit to start the church, then I would say that the church is important to Jesus, and if it's important to Jesus, then it has to be important to me!

So the church is important...

But should we walk away from the church because of a bad church experience?

Well, let me ask... when we experience bad service at a restaurant, do we give up on food altogether?!

Does one bad high school football game keep you from watching the Super Bowl?

Just because you were rained on without your umbrella doesn't mean you should avoid the water from now on... Dear Lord! Please don't stop showering!

The church is the most powerful, life-giving, world-changing force on the planet.

I believe the church is a place where …

the excluded become included, 

the hurting find healing, 

addictions are broken, 

shame is turned into joy, 

the lonely are loved, 

the hopeless find hope, 

and the kingdom of hell gets pushed back a little more where lives are saved—and Jesus receives the glory for it all.

That's what we want to see happen here in our city!

Dream City Church exists for the hurting, the hopeless, and the helpless—all people are welcome to find peace, hope, and help that Jesus gives!

There is nothing that has the power and potential of the local church... and I believe that together we're going to change the world! In our time, with what we have now—why not here?

Maybe you are the one who has been church-hurt, let down, or for whatever reason, found yourself angry at God and dissatisfied with the church.

People can let you down, pastors, church leaders, so-called friends, and pretenders who may have used you as a means to an end can let you down... 

(I've been there!)

But I realized something...

I realized that hope is never found in any of those things... and Jesus never walked away or let me down.(Not even once)

If you are reading this... I want you to discover that hope too!

I want you to discover a place where you belong, and where Jesus is the center of everything we do.
