RUN OR FIGHT

Moses led them OUT… Joshua led them IN.

God COULD HAVE told Moses to turn the Israelites around and fight the Egyptians at the Red Sea…

but He didn’t.

Instead, He said: RUN.

“Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so they can go through on dry ground.” (Exodus 14:15-16)

Because in THAT season… running wasn’t weakness... It was obedience.

They weren’t ready to fight. They had been SLAVES, not soldiers.

And if they had turned to fight, they would have been destroyed.

They needed time to grow, learn, and trust God.

But fast forward 40 years…

By the time Joshua leads them into the Promised Land, the strategy is completely different. God doesn’t say, Run. He says, Fight.

“I will give you every place where you set your foot, as I promised Moses.” (Joshua 1:3)

One required retreat… the other required warfare.

Moses led them OUT… Joshua led them IN.

And that’s the lesson:

There are SEASONS where God says, RUN…

And there are SEASONS where God says, stand your ground and FIGHT…

Some seasons feel like survival—just trusting God to part the waters so you can get through…

Other seasons feel like battle—taking ground, tearing down walls, and stepping into what He promised…

And knowing the difference MATTERS.

Because sometimes, we’re trying to fight in a season where God is telling us to trust…

Or we’re trying to wait when God is telling us to GO…

SO, WHERE ARE YOU RIGHT NOW?

Is God calling you to RUN and trust Him to make a way?

Or is He calling you to STAND and fight for what He’s promised?

Either way—He’s with you.

Pause and pray…

Father, help me to recognize what season I’m in. Give me the wisdom to know when to move forward and when to stand and fight. I don’t want to rely on old strategies for new battles… I just want to walk in obedience. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
